The time between an arrest and a court hearing is very important. If you have never experienced this process before, it can also be very overwhelming. Understanding the court process is vital to making sure you adhere to each rule and avoid a potentially costly misstep. Unfortunately, posting bail is only the beginning.
You Will Receive Court Orders
Once your bail is posted you will be given a court date for appearance before a judge or magistrate. While going through the court process, you may have more than one court date. Remember that you will remain on bond until your case is completely settled. Your bondsman will also remain on your bond until the court process is complete.
You’ll Be Refunded Your Bail Amount
If you chose to pay the bail amount, the full amount of your bail will be returned to you when you show up as ordered, minus the administrative fees taken by the court. A bond usually costs about 10% of your bail amount. If you fail to show up when ordered to by the court, you will lose the cost of the bond as well as any collateral you may have used to secure the bond. An agent with Titan Bail Bonds will call you the day before your court date just to give you a “friendly reminder” to show up!
